How should I label the assignments I turn in?

In the subject line type DA – HW#1 (or whatever number you are turning in) – HOL ID
So if I were turning in homework number four I would type:

DA - HW#4 - ro646

Remember to put your full HOL name, HOL, and House name in the body of your assignment as well.

Where do I send my homework?

You can send all assignments to hol.diagonalley@gmail.com

Will you except attachments?

Nope, everything needs to be in the body of the e-mail.  All images should be sent in as links from an imaging host site (such as photobucket or image shack).

Are there videos and flash games in this class?

Yes there are.  If you have a lower internet connection speed or do not have the up to date flash requirement it made be difficult for you to participate in some of the assignments.  Feel free to message me with any questions you have about this.  You can still participate in the class, but I don’t want people to feel discouraged if they can’t participate in all the class has to offer.

How many points do I need to pass the class/earn a quill?

You need at least 150 points.

Can I send the assignments in whenever I want?

Yep, as long as it is before the due date.

Can I send half of the assignment now, and half later?

Nope, you need to include everything you want to receive credit for in one e-mail.  If you only send in a portion of the assignment that is all you will be graded on.

Do I have to do all the assignments?

Nope, but you want to turn enough in to pass the class.

Are the assignments difficult?

I don’t think so.  I tried to make the assignments fun and easy so all would enjoy the class.

Is there any extra credit available?

Nope, since there are more assignments there will be no extra credit.

What is the bonus lesson for?

The bonus lesson is for any student who doesn’t want to complete one of the regular assignments, or needs to earn some extra points to receive the full 300 points for the term.

Is there a final exam for the class?

Nope, there are ten lessons, plus the bonus assignment, so I think that’s more than enough work for the students.

Can I earn more than 300 points for the term with the bonus lesson?

Nope, I can only give a maximum of 300 points out per term, but someone might be an overachiever like me and want to get a perfect 300 points, so this is the purpose for the bonus lesson.  For example, if you have turned in everything else already, but only have 295 points and want those five extra points, the student may do the bonus lesson for those extra points.

Can I have an extension?

Nope, all assignments will have one due date. January 15th, 2012.

When will I receive my points?

I will submit points once a month.  Therefore, whatever I receive in a given month will receive points the first week on the following month.  For example whatever I receive in the month of September I will submit points for the first week of October.

How do I know you received the work I turned in?

I will send you a confirmation e-mail stating the grade you received on the assignment. Then, I will post in the class discussion area the HOL ids I have submitted points to.

What if I didn’t receive my points after I received your confirmation e-mail?

Every month I will make a post in the class discussion area stating I have submitted points for the month.  If you have received a confirmation e-mail from me and DO NOT see your HOL id in the correct assignment discussion please send me a HOL message or e-mail and I will look into it.

Are there awards you can earn?

Yes, the follwing awards may be earned:
The Ollivander’s award – Given to the top House point earned of the term
The Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes award – Given to the student who has the most creative assignments for each house.
The Brick Wall Award – Given to all students who turn in everything regardless of points earned.
What if I have a question about the homework that is not covered on the class site?
Feel free to either HOL message me or send the question to the class email.
