For all of you aspiring writers this last spot might intrigue you the most.   I give you the offices of The Daily Prophet.  If you have ever wanted to write the editors about an article that you enjoyed or more than likely disliked, this is the office you need to send your owl to.

The Daily Prophet is the most well known wizarding world newspaper.  The paper has been around since 1883.  The Prophet publishes a new edition every morning, though they are known for special evening issues if the world tends to be in chaos, such as when Lord Voldemort was around.  The Prophet can be delivered fairly quickly by owl when an exciting story has broke.  The last known editor of the Prophet was Barnabas Cuffe.  The Daily Prophet serves any witch or wizard within Britain.  As an added bonus, the Prophet will even change throughout the day to the important stories that are in progress.  This can be compared similar to the Protean Charm.

One can buy subscriptions to the Daily Prophet and these can be paid for in advance or one can pay for their issue once it comes by owl post.  Owls will be equipped with money pouches on their legs for easy payment.  The owls are known to peck and bite until they have received payment.  The cost of an issue has gone up in the past few years.  I remember when the Prophet only cost five knuts per issue, while now it’s seven.

The Prophet has several different sections and columns that are long-standing such as a zoological column, letter-to-the-editors section, an advice column, they have a “Problem Page” which is a writer who ties to answers reader’s questions.  There is, of course, a sports section which is mainly dedicated to Quidditch matches, interviews with players, etc.  There is a classified section, which includes death and birth announcements, jobs adverts, magical items for sale, and other adverts for business.

There are several better-known writers for the Prophet.  To name a few:

Zamira Gulch – deals with answering the magical problems people write in about in for the Problem Page.

Grizel Hurtz – deals with the emotional issues people have for the Problem Page

Rita Skeeter – Special Correspondent and Writer for the Prophet, best known for her defamation of character of Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore back in the day

Professor Helbert Spleen – deals with medical inquiries people write about in the Problem Page. (with a last name of Spleen he was destined for a life in the medical field)

Dempster Wiggleswade – works in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and answers question dealing with legal problems in the Problem Pages.

Numerous Photographers – who manage to remain nameless for the Prophet.  However, they seem always to be right where they need to be for that perfect photo (sort of like muggle paparazzi)
